Trivia

Mount Talamitam got its name from the abundance of Talamitam trees that once covered it. Along with Mount Lantik, it was known as one of the "Twin Mountains." Initially, these mountains were explored for mining due to local beliefs that gold could be found in Mount Talamitam. However, the residents of Kayrilaw were unable to confirm the presence of any gold in the area.

Starting / Entry Point

The trail to Mount Talamitam starts here, leading hikers directly into a forested area. The path, carved out by frequent foot traffic, is bordered by towering trees, lush plants, and wild grass. The uphill climb can be challenging, especially for inexperienced hikers, using a walking stick or trekking pole is a helpful tool for support. Proper footwear with good traction is essential, as the trail can be slippery and muddy, even in hot weather.

Ascending Path

As hikers make their way along the trail, they encounter steep sections equipped with well-maintained paths and safety ropes. These ropes provide secure handholds, reducing the risk of slips and falls. The local government unit of Barangay Kayrilaw oversees the rope maintenance program, holding monthly meetings to assign personnel to inspect and monitor the ropes' condition. This proactive approach plays a vital role in preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of all hikers.
